A great church website needs to serve two primary functions, connect with visitors (potential newcomers) AND provide a service to existing members of the church. However, it is critical that 75% of the website’s design cater toward potential newcomers. Most, if not all, of your visitors will check your website out to make a decision to attend your church; additionally, your website may serve as the only way to bring outsiders into your ministry.

What this means is it’s critical to reflect the culture and flavor of your church with pictures, videos, and brief written text to make it easy for them to understand the belief and intent of the church. The easier it is for them to understand “who you are” the more you increase the likelihood of them attending your church. So, as the saying goes, first impressions do count, so make it quick, make it intuitive, make it easy to navigate, and most of all do with a spirit of excellence.

Spend the time and money it takes to make your website a “one stop shop” for your existing members. It makes it easier to keep connected to your people, and to promote your events; not to mention it will save a hundred headaches for your administrative staff!
